Upstate NY Man Killed by His Own Tractor

RUTLAND, NY (AP)  -- Authorities are investigating a tractor accident that has claimed the life of a northern New York man.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department says the accident occurred Sunday morning at the victim's property in Rutland, 65 miles north of Syracuse.

Deputies are withholding the man's name pending notification of relatives.

Authorities say the man, who was in his mid-40s, was operating a Bobcat tractor when he stuck his head outside the driver's cage and was hit in the head by the vehicle's bucket.

Deputies say the man died after suffering severe head trauma.
