NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- What a success! Another Working Women's Luncheon has come and gone but for those who were able to join us Tuesday afternoon, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Hundreds a women, and a few brave men, turned out for good conversation, good food and a great time all around.
The luncheon started out with a brief presentation from Caliper about women in the workplace. What makes women different from men as leaders? What qualities are found more often in women workers? How have women made a difference in workplaces? All these questions were looked at and Caliper did a great job explaining trends historically in charts and graphs.
Next, WCBS Morning Anchor Pat Carroll introduced CBS News Evening Anchor Katie Couric to the crowd and jumped right into the discussing the pressures Couric faces as a high-profile working woman.
Carroll and Couric talked about the demands of not only being women in a fast-paced work place such as a newsroom, but also how challenges they faced while climbing to the top.
Stories were traded on how they juggle raising their kids as single moms, and bringing balance into their homes.
Couric also talked about how she deals with so much public interest in her work and her private life; teaching her girls not to take what people may say about their mom personally.
We got some great questions from audience members: How much time should I take off when I have my baby? Who do you keep in your 'mind's eye' when delivering the Evening News? How's your love life?
If you weren't able to make it this time, check out the pictures and look out for a video coming soon of all the highlights.
We would like to thank Katie Couric for taking the time to chat with us and give a little insight to her world.
We would also like to thank all of the sponser's who helped make Working Women's Luncheon happen.
Last, but certainly not least... everyone who attended! We love meeting our listeners and learning from you as much as we hope you learn from us.
We'll see you next time! |
